WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 05/01/2011

Praise the Lord Saints. What a powerful Resurrection Sunday worship service we had! We were truly blessed and I believe we were a blessing to many. Congratulations to you for your service in ministry.
In the preaching, I am being led to move away from the Sunday school text and for the next three weeks I will be preaching a three part series I’m calling “In it--to win it” Our primary text will be from the book of Hebrews. Here is the text…

TEXT: Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: This week it is...Preparing to win!

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Let’s teach the children to develop and attitude for success (i.e. believe that you are going to succeed—the power of positive thinking)

RESPONSIVE READING: #565 God’s Providential Care

MAY MEMORY VERSE: John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (NIV)

NOTE: The Homegoing celebration for our brother Charles Dennis is as follows:
WAKE: Friday, April 29th, 5:30-9 PM
FUNERAL: April 30th, 9:30-11:30 AM
REPAST: Following Internment at Pine Grove Cemetery

ALL of the above will take place at GREATER BETHLEHEM TEMPLE, 26 Light Street, Lynn (because Zion was previously rented out for a wedding). To all of those that I count on to help make this home-going celebrations successful, it is as though we were doing the service at Zion but it will be at Bishop Bennett’s church. We will have to do all of the planning and execution. (i.e. music, choir, ushers, food for after wake). It looks like the planning is going well. I count on you and I’m proud of you already.

Finally beloved, remember that God loves you and he can handle any situation in your life, regardless of the size, that you might be going through today. Give it to Him and have a good day.

Bless each of you

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 04/24/2011

Praise the Lord people of God! This Sunday is Resurrection Sunday, when all of Christianity celebrates the foundational truth of our faith that Jesus Christ overcame death and the grave. As the songwriter said “because He got up, I can go up!” Join me in being excited about the good news of the Gospel. Please see notes at the end of this email.
Our preaching focus this week is on the motivation and result of the empty tomb, and why we should be celebrating this day and everyday. Here is our text…

TEXT: John 20:1-13
1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!”
3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.
4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.
6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,
7 as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus' head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.
8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.
9 (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)
10 Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.
11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb
12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: The power of love to elevate.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Footsteps Liturgical Dance Ministry

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strong holds (KJV)

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 04/17/2011

In all things, let us praise the Lord saints! The song writer said: "I've had some good days, and I've had some hills to climb. I've had some weary days and lonesome nights, but when I look around, and think things over, all of my good days outweigh the bad days, and I won't complain. So on the good days, let us praise Him, when climbing the hills, let us praise Him. In the midst of weary days and lonesome nights, let us continue to give God our praise. He's worthy.
This week we are going to be blessed with a Word from Rev Shprecher with his Palm Sunday message. Let us begin the celebration. Here is our text…

TEXT: Mark 11:1-11 (NIV)
1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,
2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.
3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,
5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”
6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.
7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.
8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields.
9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”£
10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest!”
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: How we need to retell God’s story and celebrate God’s triumph until we get it right.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Let’s help our children learn to continue trying to do what is right until they get it right

RESPONSIVE READING: #605 Praising the Lord

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strong holds(KJV)

NOTE: We lost our beloved brother Charles Dennis this week. Arrangements to celebrate his life are underway and planned for after Easter. Please keep Mamunie, Derrick, Ebony and the rest of the family in your prayers. Bless you people of God.

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 04/10/2011

Praise the Lord people of God. If you are worried about something today, let me encourage you with the words Paul sent to the Philippians, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Why? Because there is nothing going on in you life right now that God can’t handle. So turn it over to Him, persevere, and have a good day! Perseverance will be our focus in the preaching this week. Here is our text…

TEXT: Jude 1:17-21 (NIV)
17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.
18They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”
19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: Persevering in our faith

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Let’s help our children learn to stay faithful to what they believe about God. (i.e. what we are teaching them in Sunday School, Church, and Home)

RESPONSIVE READING: #585 God The Second Coming

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strong holds (KJV)
