WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 12/05/2010

Praise the lord saints! I greet you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our Salvation.  In our preaching and teaching focus, we are now moving from the fall quarter to the winter quarter. Our new quarterly theme is: “Assuring Hope” and considers ways that God Reassures us. Our texts this quarter will come from the books of Isaiah and Mark.

This week we will consider the lesson on God Who Gives us Strength from Isaiah 40. Here is the text…

TEXT: Isaiah 40:1-8, 25-26, 29-31

1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.  2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins. 3 A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.  5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together.  For the mouth of the LORD has spoken. 6 A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.   7 The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them.  Surely the people are grass.   8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

25  “To whom will you compare me?  Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.  26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?  He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name.  Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: This sermon is about God encouraging and strengthening his people.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Let’s help our children to Learn to see God even in their difficult times in life.

TEXT: Psalm 139:1-6, 13-16, 23-24  For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

1 O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.

2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.

5You hem me in— behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

13For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

23Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 11/14/2010

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I hope this message finds you in the best of health and spirits. If the challenges of life are pulling at you down, let me just remind you that God loves you and so do I. This week we are celebrating the “wonderful” Women of Zion. I am excited and “thank God” for all of the women. The Lord placed it on my heart to visit a familiar text and story regarding a woman that met a Man...Here is the text…

TEXT: John 4:1-24

1 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John— 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples.  3 So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. 4 Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. 7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” 11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” 16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” 17 “I have no husband,” she replied.   Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” 19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: The importance of women (and all believers) finding their identity in God.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Let’s help our children to Learn to see themselves as God sees them-and know they are who God says they are...(Gen. 1:27)

   So great is your power
that your enemies cringe before you.
4 All the earth bows down to you;
   they sing praise to you,
they sing the praises of your name.”

5 Come and see what God has done,
   his awesome deeds for mankind!
6 He turned the sea into dry land,
they passed through the waters on foot—
come, let us rejoice in him.
7 He rules forever by his power,
   his eyes watch the nations—
let not the rebellious rise up against him.

8 Praise our God, all peoples,
   let the sound of his praise be heard;
9 he has preserved our lives
and kept our feet from slipping.
10 For you, God, tested us;
   you refined us like silver.
11 You brought us into prison

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.

4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.

7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.

8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

9 They who seek my life will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth.

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 10/10/2010
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I hope this email finds you in the best of health and spirits. God is good...
This week for our preaching/teaching focus ( still on the subject of “ God who sustains ” us ) we will consider God’s perfect LAW.
Here is the text …
TEXT: Psalm 19:7-14 ( NIV )
7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold ; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
11 By them is your servant warned ; in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors ? Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins ; may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: The relationship between God, God’s Laws, and God’s people.
SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Trying to do what God wants us to do.

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 10/03/2010

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ:

God is good, all the time, and all the time...I want to thank all of you that were faithful in participating in our Fall Revival and helped in my 8th Pastoral Anniversary celebration. It was a fine time, I thank God for you, and I look forward to serving the Lord with you in the future.

In our preaching and teaching, we are still focusing on our quarterly theme of the “Inescapable God” This week begins a two month study of some of the Psalms, as we consider “God as our sustainer and protector.” The text for this week is Psalm 8. Here is the text…

TEXT: Psalm 8:1-9 (NIV)

1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!  You have set your glory above the heavens.

2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise [b] because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?

5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings [c] and crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:

7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,

8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: Finding our real “identity” in God. (Who is man?)

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Trying to learn to take on the “likeness” of God. (consider his attributes of love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, patience, etc.)

NOTE:

Our Fall Revival theme was “Lord do it” with our text coming from the Book of Lamentations 5:21 which says...”Restore us to yourself, O LORD, that we may return; renew our days as of old. The preachers had messages very appropriate to the theme and text, let me suggest again that if you missed the Revival, consider getting a copy of the CD, you will be blessed.

Yours in service and love,

Pastor W. C. Hill

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ:‭ ‬In all things praise Him,‭ ‬praise him,‭ ‬praise Him,‭ ‬for He is worthy of ALL of our praise.‭ ‬he really is‭!
If you were not at our Revival last night,‭ ‬you missed it‭! ‬Rev Debora Jackson preached a word that every member and especially church leaders need to hear.‭ ‬Let me suggest you get a copy of the CD,‭ ‬listen to it,‭ ‬and consider our‭ "‬personal role‭" ‬in being spiritually revived and helping our Church Vision become our Church Reality.
This week as we continue in the quarterly theme of the‭ "‬Inescapable God,‭" ‬Minister Gabriel Taylor will be bringing the sermon. Here is the text‭…‬

TEXT: Exodus‭ ‬34:5-7 ‭(‬New International Version‭)
5 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name,‭ ‬the LORD. 6 And he passed in front of Moses,‭ ‬proclaiming,‭ "‬The LORD,‭ ‬the LORD,‭ ‬the compassionate and gracious God,‭ ‬slow to anger,‭ ‬abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands,‭ ‬and forgiving wickedness,‭ ‬rebellion and sin.‭ ‬Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished‭; ‬he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.‭"
TITLE:‭ ‬The Almighty

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT:‭ ‬The power of The Creator.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE:‭ ‬Understanding the limitless power of God.

RESPONSIVE‭ ‬READING:‭ ‬#‭ ‬563‭ ‬God The Omnipotent

NOTE:
‭***‬As leaders and role models,‭ ‬each of us should make every effort to come to support the Revival so that we are not asking others to do something we are not willing to do ourselves.‭ ‬Choir did great job last night,‭ ‬tonight Male Chorus.
‭***‬This Sunday afternoon,‭ ‬we will celebrate my‭ ‬8th Pastoral Anniversary‭; ‬I am hoping you will come out and be supportive.

Yours in Christian love and service,
--‭
‬Pastor W.‭ ‬C.‭ ‬Hill

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 09/19/2010

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: In all things praise Him, praise him, praise Him, for He is worthy of ALL of our praise.  Homecoming was a great time in the Lord, major thanks to all that worked to make it a success--special gratitude to the Homecoming Committee for their great work.

This week for our preaching/teaching focus, we will get back on track with the text from Sunday school lessons and the story of Moses going up on the mountain to get the 10 Commandments from God, and what happened down below while he was gone. (Aren't you glad we serve a God that is patient with his people?)

Here is the text…

TEXT: Exodus 32:1-6 (NIV)

1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."

2 Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."

3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.

4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."

5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD."

6So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: The danger of serving a "god" that you made.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Trying to learn to do what God wants us to do.

RESPONSIVE READING: # 563 God The Omnipotent

HOME COMING SUNDAY

September 12, 2010

At a dressed down church service to begin the church year Alex Newell led the choir as it entered the sanctuary. We had many visitors including Pastor John Grayson from Selma Alabama who proclaimed us "a good old country church." And many old timers including the Homecoming Queen and King: Carri and Aaron Murkison. Our Rev. Dr William C Hill preached on how in the Lord's house, there's "no place like Home." It was a wonderful celebration of the Lord with good food and fellowship following the service. If you didn't make it last Sunday please come home next Sunday, we miss you.

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 09/12/2010

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: In all things give God the praise, He is worthy of all our praise.  Here we go, back to our regular schedule. This week I feel called to stray from SS text and to tap into Homecoming, by going to the Prodigal Son text in Luke's Gospel.  Here is the text…

TEXT: Luke 15:11-32
Luk 15:11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: Luk 15:12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me.  And he divided unto them his living.  Luk 15:13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.  Luk 15:14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.  Luk 15:15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.  Luk 15:16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.  Luk 15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!  Luk 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, Luk 15:19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.  Luk 15:20 And he arose, and came to his father.  But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.  Luk 15:21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.  Luk 15:22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: Luk 15:23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: Luk 15:24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.  And they began to be merry.  Luk 15:25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.  Luk 15:26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.  Luk 15:27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.  Luk 15:28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and entreated him.  Luk 15:29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: Luk 15:30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.  Luk 15:31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.  Luk 15:32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: Several ways of returning to God.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Trying harder to do what God wants you to do.

SUNDAY SCHOOL INFORMATION

God Makes a Covenant with Israel

Our Sunday School Text is Exodus 20:1-11

1And God spoke all these words:
2“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3“You shall have no other gods before£ me.
4“You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
8“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 09/05/2010

Greetings Saints in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: In all things give God praise, he is worthy.  This Sunday marks the Labor Day weekend, the end of our summer break, and preparation for kicking off the Fall quarter.

Our theme for this first quarter in “The Inescapable God” and we will consider in the preaching and teaching ways that God reveals himself to us, sustains us, and protects.

This Sunday we will get started with God revealing himself to a shepherd that He was going to put in service to carry out a great task, you know the story and here is the text…

TEXT: Exodus 3:1-6  (New International Version)

1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

2 There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

3 So Moses thought, I will go over and see this strange sight— why the bush does not burn up.

4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, Moses! Moses! And Moses said, Here I am.

5 Do not come any closer, God said. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.

6 Then he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: How God calls us from unusual places and calls us to do important work—we need to be ready to say “yes Lord”

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Learning to agree with God (i.e. do what God wants)

RESPONSIVE READING: #590 Christian Commitment

SEPTEMBER MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 139:7-8 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?  If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: In all things give God the praise, He is worthy.  This coming Sunday has been designated as “Mission Sunday” and is a time for us to focus on our Biblical responsibilities to show the love of God at home and abroad. Our guest preacher will be Rev. TEXT: Luke 9:12-17

Luke 9:12 And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

Luke 9:13  But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.

Luke 9:14  For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.

Luke 9:15  And they did so, and made them all sit down.

Luke 9:16  Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

Luke 9:17  And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

On Sunday (August 22nd), Rev. Shprecher will be bringing the Word to us, here's is the text:

TEXT: Isaiah 58: 9b-14

9b “If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,

and your night will become like the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.

Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.

and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the LORD’S holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
14 then you will find your joy in the LORD,
and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 08/15/2010

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ:  I hope that you are all enjoying the summer and getting some rest and personal time in for yourself. The summer is moving very quickly and before you know it...but praise the Lord anyhow!

On Sunday (August 15th), we will again look at God's children on their wilderness journey, and what happened as they were meeting another of life’s challenges...here is the text:

TEXT: Exodus 15:22-27 (NIV)

22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah. 24 So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?"

25 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them. 26  He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you."

27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: Learning a lesson from Israel on what to do when the challenges of life come on us.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Learning to do what pleases God, when things do not go right or we have trouble.

RESPONSIVE READING: #594 The Christian Hope

NOTES:

A huge “thank you” and “well done” to the many that did such a good job on supporting the families of brother Thomas McGlown and brother Salim Fort during their time of loss. Please continue to pray for them as God heals them and let’s pray for each other.

Yours in Christian love and service,

Pastor W. C. Hill
