This is a day that the the Lord has made, let's rejoice and be glad in it. The joy of the lord is ours, so let's claim it in the name of Jesus. As the summer roles on, we are heading to the conclusion of our series "The Lord as Our Shepherd." Praise the Lord people of God! Today I am encouraged by the words the Apostle Paul wrote to the people of God long ago”...Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). In other words saints, Paul was saying; regardless of what’s going on in your life, don’t worry, just pray, be grateful, and tell God all about it—He can handle it!!

Praise the Lord people of God! This Sunday is Resurrection Sunday, when all of Christianity celebrates the foundational truth of our faith that Jesus Christ overcame death and the grave. As the songwriter said “because He got up, I can go up!” Join me in being excited about the good news of the Gospel. Please see notes at the end of this email.
Our preaching focus this week is on the motivation and result of the empty tomb, and why we should be celebrating this day and everyday. Here is our text…

TEXT: John 20:1-13
1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!”
3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.
4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.
6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,
7 as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus' head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.
8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.
9 (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)
10 Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.
11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb
12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

Finally, let me just say to each of you that really appreciate you and your work in ministry. Therefore in spite of “the cares of this old world” we have a reason to celebrate—so let’s have a high praise celebration this Sunday. In all things, let us praise the Lord saints! The song writer said: "I've had some good days, and I've had some hills to climb. I've had some weary days and lonesome nights, but when I look around, and think things over, all of my good days outweigh the bad days, and I won't complain. So on the good days, let us praise Him, when climbing the hills, let us praise Him. In the midst of weary days and lonesome nights, let us continue to give God our praise. He's worthy.
This week we are going to be blessed with a Word from Rev Shprecher with his Palm Sunday message. Let us begin the celebration. Here is our text…

TEXT: Mark 11:1-11 (NIV)
1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,
2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.
3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,
5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

TEXT: 1 Timothy 3:1-16
1 Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

17 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ…to God be the glory for the great things he has done! In the preaching /teaching focus, we are picking up were we left off last week in the book of Mark, ninth chapter. Here is the text:

TEXT: Mark 9:2-13 (NIV)
2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.
3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.
4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”
8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

Praise God saints...It is my prayer that each of you are fairing well through the snow. A challenging start to winter, but we will make it. Be encouraged.
This week’s preaching and teaching theme is “Assuring Hope: The Fulfillment of God’s Promise.” We are moving to the gospel of Mark and this week’s lesson is from Mark 8:27 – 9:1 and will focus on the identity and suffering of Christ.

TEXT: Mark 8:27-9:1
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”
30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” The Way of the Cross

Praise God saints...Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow and let’s praise God anyhow. For through it all, his goodness and his mercy continues, and we make it through. This week’s preaching and teaching theme will continue on “Assuring Hope: A Future for God’s People.” This week’s lesson is from Isaiah 53:1-12 and will focus on the appearance, suffering, and rewards for the suffering servant. TEXT: Isaiah 53:1-12
1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

3 He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.”

4 But I said, “I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing at all. Yet what is due me is in the LORD’s hand, and my reward is with my God.”

TEXT: John 4:1-24

1 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John— 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples.  3 So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. 4 Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. 7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 10/17/2010

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I hope this email finds you in the best of health and spirits. Let me just remind you that God loves you and is willing to carry you through whatever challenges life may bring, and when you come out on the other side of trouble, you will be stronger, wiser, and more trusting.

This week for our preaching/teaching focus (still on the subject of “God who sustains” us) we will consider God’s Safe Refuge.

TEXT: Psalm 46:1-7 (NIV)

Psalm 46:1-7

1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.  Selah

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.  Selah

Here is the text …

TEXT: Psalm 19:7-14 ( NIV )

7 The law of the LORD is perfect,

reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.

10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold ; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.

11 By them is your servant warned ; in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his errors ? Forgive my hidden faults.

13 Keep your servant also from willful sins ; may they not rule over me.

Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
