Praise God Saints! Through it all we will make it. In this weeks preaching, we will continue the series on the 23rd Psalm, as we consider "The Lord as Our Shepherd." Praise God Saints! What a powerful Men of Zion Annual celebration we had. My congratulations to the many that worked so hard and served so faithfully to make it the blessing it was. We appreciate you.

In the preaching, We will be heading in a new direction, one that I believe God will use to bless us all. Please pray over this.

Praise the Lord people of God! Today I am encouraged by the words the Apostle Paul wrote to the people of God long ago”...Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). In other words saints, Paul was saying; regardless of what’s going on in your life, don’t worry, just pray, be grateful, and tell God all about it—He can handle it!!

ALL of the above will take place at GREATER BETHLEHEM TEMPLE, 26 Light Street, Lynn (because Zion was previously rented out for a wedding). To all of those that I count on to help make this home-going celebrations successful, it is as though we were doing the service at Zion but it will be at Bishop Bennett’s church. We will have to do all of the planning and execution. (i.e. music, choir, ushers, food for after wake). It looks like the planning is going well. I count on you and I’m proud of you already.

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 04/24/2011

Praise the Lord people of God! This Sunday is Resurrection Sunday, when all of Christianity celebrates the foundational truth of our faith that Jesus Christ overcame death and the grave. As the songwriter said “because He got up, I can go up!” Join me in being excited about the good news of the Gospel. Please see notes at the end of this email.
Our preaching focus this week is on the motivation and result of the empty tomb, and why we should be celebrating this day and everyday. Here is our text…

TEXT: John 20:1-13
1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!”
3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.
4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.
6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,
7 as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus' head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.
8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.
9 (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)
10 Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.
11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb
12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

Therefore in spite of “the cares of this old world” we have a reason to celebrate—so let’s have a high praise celebration this Sunday. In all things, let us praise the Lord saints! The song writer said: "I've had some good days, and I've had some hills to climb. I've had some weary days and lonesome nights, but when I look around, and think things over, all of my good days outweigh the bad days, and I won't complain. So on the good days, let us praise Him, when climbing the hills, let us praise Him. In the midst of weary days and lonesome nights, let us continue to give God our praise. He's worthy.
This week we are going to be blessed with a Word from Rev Shprecher with his Palm Sunday message. Let us begin the celebration. Here is our text…

TEXT: Mark 11:1-11 (NIV)
1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,
2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

Last week in our preaching and teaching, we looked at the qualities of a Christian leader (and all Christians) and the challenge was to have the courage to “be different” from the world. This week we will consider the priorities of the Christian leader (and all Christians). Here is the text…

TEXT: 1 Timothy 4:6-16 (NIV)

6 If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.
7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.
8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance.
10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things.

Praise the Lord Saints! To God be the glory, for he is worthy of all our praise! This week our preaching /teaching focus, is on a requirement for the people of God to be “different” as illustrated in the list of leadership qualities Paul gives Timothy, a young Pastor at Ephesus. Here is the text…

TEXT: 1 Timothy 3:1-16
1 Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

8 In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

TEXT: 1 Timothy 2:1-15
1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—
2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,
6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.

TEXT: Mark 13:14-27, 31

14 “When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’ standing where it does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 Let no one on the housetop go down or enter the house to take anything out.
16 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak.
17 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!
18 Pray that this will not take place in winter,
19 because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now—and never to be equaled again.
20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.
21 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it.

Praise the Lord Saints! My prayer is that you are all well. This week in the preaching /teaching focus, we are moving forward from were we left off last week in the book of Mark, this week the tenth chapter. Here is the text…

TEXT: Mark 10:35-45
35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”
38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”
39 “We can,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with,
40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”
41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John.
42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ…to God be the glory for the great things he has done! In the preaching /teaching focus, we are picking up were we left off last week in the book of Mark, ninth chapter. Here is the text:

TEXT: Mark 9:2-13 (NIV)
2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.
3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.
4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”
8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
10 They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.
11 And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
12 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected?
13 But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”

WORSHIP SERVICE INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY 02/06/2011

Praise God saints...It is my prayer that each of you are fairing well through the snow. A challenging start to winter, but we will make it. Be encouraged.
This week’s preaching and teaching theme is “Assuring Hope: The Fulfillment of God’s Promise.” We are moving to the gospel of Mark and this week’s lesson is from Mark 8:27 – 9:1 and will focus on the identity and suffering of Christ.

Here is the text….
TEXT: Mark 8:27-9:1
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”
30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” The Way of the Cross
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
9:1 And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.”

Praise God saints...Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow and let’s praise God anyhow. For through it all, his goodness and his mercy continues, and we make it through. This week’s preaching and teaching theme will continue on “Assuring Hope: A Future for God’s People.” This week’s lesson is from Isaiah 53:1-12 and will focus on the appearance, suffering, and rewards for the suffering servant. Here is the text….

TEXT: Isaiah 53:1-12
1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.

WHAT THE SERMON IS ABOUT: A “heads up” on what to expect as a servant of God; such as; need to be different, able to endure suffering, and anticipating a reward (of some kind) for faithfulness.

SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S MESSAGE: Let’s help our children to learn how to be different than the crowd (resist peer pressure); willing to endure suffering without retaliation (repay evil with good); expect to be rewarded by God for faithful service.
